Welcome to the Mrs. Harriss Music Teacher webpage!About the teacher:Mrs. Harriss conducting the Honor Orchestra (audition for a singing contest) (in "Joseph" at Stars ^ )My name is Heidi Harriss. I have been working in the field of education ever since I graduated from high school starting in 1997. I have worked as a lunch lady, playground supervisor, instructional aide to Special Education, and I also subbed professionally for 4 years in every grade from Preschool - 12th grade. In 2007 I started working as a band and choir teacher in Delano. I have thoroughly enjoyed the network of music educators that Kern County has to offer and I am very happy to be here teaching in the Panama-Buena Vista school district. I LOVE children of all ages! I also LOVE music so it was a natural choice for me to decide to become a music teacher. I am married to an audio engineer and we have 4 children - ages 17, 13, 9, and 5 (3 boys and 1 girl). I started learning how to play instruments and singing when I was very young. In college I studied vocal performance and heavily trained in classical music, but I grew up singing everything from country to jazz to pop. I have been a featured soloist for the Riverside Symphony and for the Tulare Symphony and have also been a featured artist for the Kern County Fair's Gospel Day event for several years. I am also a singer in a professional choir here in Bakersfield called "Meridian Voices." You can visit my singer webpage at: (www.meridianvoices.com/heidi ). I also play more than 10 instruments. I feel very blessed to be able to use my skills to help others learn to make beautiful music and I am very excited about this journey of studying music this year with your child and even more importantly, helping your child to be successful and to be the very best they can be in ALL areas of life.
I would love to connect with you and be able to send you text reminders of important announcements as it relates to choir. It's simple to sign up.
