Mr. Clay McCombs
Letter of introduction
My name is Clay McCombs and I am excited to join the Warren Junior High team starting in the 2020-2021 school year. I have been employed in the field of special education since 2008. This August, 2020, I celebrate my 8th year as a special educator for the Panama Buena Vista Union School District serving children with autism. The opportunity to teach my exceptional students is a wonderful blessing and has provided for me a sense of purpose as a special educator. I desire to see that my students are supported in every way possible and to strive to develop the highest possible learning outcomes and quality of life potential in ways that respect their dignity, culture, language, and backgrounds.
Prior to teaching at PBVUSD, I was employed for two years in Shafter, CA for the Richland School District as a moderate to severe teacher serving students in Kindergarten through third grade for my first year, and in fourth through sixth grade for my second year. My classroom experience began at the Kern High School District where I spent four years as an instructional aide for special needs mobility. I assisted children within ninth to twelfth grades with autism or moderate to severe disabilities at Stockdale High School under Ms. Kelly Dickerson.
Working with high school students as well as Kindergarten students has provided me with a unique perspective through the lens of education; a point of view that we all are lifetime learners and that the seeds of learning can be planted within our hearts and minds at any point in our educational journey. It is my passion to see my students grow in their learning just as I have throughout my lifetime.
