Mr. Becerra directs the Stine School band and orchestra. His classroom is located in room 20.
Stine School provides all students in 5th and 6th grade with the opportunity to join the instrumental music program. Success in music requires more than ability and interest. Home practice is most important for musical progress.
The following criteria are considered in selecting eligible students:
* Positive attitude
* Musical aptitude
* Suitability for a selected instrument
* Support of classroom teacher
Students involved in band and orchestra will learn instrumental technique, music theory, concert procedures, and will perform at one Spring and one Winter concert during the school year. 6th grade students in the intermediate band and orchestra will also attend an instrumental music festival at Thompson Jr. High.

Mr. Becerra graduated from California State University Bakersfield with a B.A. in Music and emphasis on music education. He has been teaching for the Panama-Buena Vista Union School District for 14 years, and has taught instrumental and general music at Laurelglen, Stine, and Seibert elementary schools.

Please remind your student to bring their instrument and supplies on their lesson days. Check the instrumental music schedule to see days and times.Please make sure that your child is practicing 30 minutes every day, or 1 hour every other day. All students must pass their performance tests in order to perform in our concerts.
